About Ananke

Ananke Projects is an independent cultural initiative founded bySeyram Klu De-Souza.

Named after Ananke, the Greek personification of inevitability and necessity, the platform exists as a space where art is understood not simply as aesthetic production, but as a necessary force for dialogue, transformation, and cultural meaning.

Our work

Our work spans curatorial practice, publishing, visual culture, cultural research and community projects. We create spaces for ideas, stories and creative practices to encounter one another and are drawn to the spaces between things: between disciplines, between cultures, between what has been inherited and what is yet to be imagined.

Our work explores how culture can preserve memory, challenge assumptions, create dialogue and make room for perspectives that have not always occupied the centre.

Through our projects, Ananke seeks to approach culture not simply as something to be presented, but as something continually being made, questioned and reimagined.

Why Ananke

Ananke Projects is founded on the belief that artistic expression is not optional, but essential to how societies think, remember, heal, and imagine new futures.

Working across publishing, curatorial practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, research, and cultural programming, Ananke Projects is committed to creating thoughtful spaces where artists, writers, filmmakers, and cultural practitioners can experiment freely and engage deeply with ideas that shape contemporary life.

Interstice emerges as the inaugural publishing initiative under Ananke Projects — the first expression of a long-term vision dedicated to nurturing process, experimentation, and forms of creative practice that exist beyond conventional expectations of completion.

At its core, Ananke Projects exists for one simple reason: because art must.
